The PNLD (Police National Legal Database) is a business service of the Police and Crime Commissioner West Yorkshire.
PNLD is the leading provider of up to date, accurate online legal information, including legislative guidance, case law and national standard offence wordings to the police service of England and Wales. We have done so for over 20 years. Our service is available on subscription to support all those with an interest in law, for more information please visit www.pnld.co.uk.
The Ask the Police websites - www.askthe.police.uk and www.askthe.scottish.police.uk were created by PNLD as a result of a thematic inspection of call handling within the police service by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC ).
Ask the Scottish Police is an online information resource of Q&A's that responds to a wide variety of the general public's most frequently asked policing questions. It offers an alternative online option, reducing calls to the police, freeing up resources and saving money.
The website provides links to relevant organisations PLUS the facility to rate the answer and email a specific question directly, which will be answered within 24 working hours. Local police information and advice can be added for the benefit of communities. Ask the Police websites are available to download as apps .
